The fields on Manfall
When the Dwarves from the Steelpick Islands invaded Velenta during the second age, they managed to take as far up the continent as Al Serine, building the mountainside town as a staging point for the rest of their conquest. From Al Serine they attempted to march into the heart of Velenta but were halted before the Orn forest by a alliance of men and elves. This battle was known as Manfall and the dead still litter the fields, even now.
Beleiving the site to be cursed with the dead, the locals of southern Velenta avoid this stretch of land and the roads leading to Belfriedel and Lashmeon was built around the fields.
High wooden stakes surround the battleground, but long abnadoned banners still remain planted in the ground, fluttering in the wind and showing sigils of the past. Upon passing the stakes, the weather worn and ancient bones of the dead still lay where they fell. Rusted weapons fallen from the grip of the fallen sport coverings of moss and earth where the land has taken the steel and iron for its own.
The wooden structures of siege engines on both sides stand silently, the skeletal forms of their crews still slumped over the controls, loyal to their task until the very end. All of this accompanied by the sound of nothing, pure silence covers the battle ground; a silent prayer to the dead.
